By exploring great paintings, campers will be engaged by the gripping stories and struggles of mankind, many of which are stranger than fiction. From the tragedy of doomed travelers shipwrecked aboard the Medusa in the 18th century to the haunting horrors of Anselm Kiefer's monolithic work, human dignity and suffering will come to the forefront. Beauty will be addressed as well in works by John Singer Sargent and Archibald Motley, a Jazz-era African American painter. There will also be a quick trip through Abstract art for those who wonder why it's art at all. If you love art but aren't sure how to approach it, this camp is for you!
